Mattamy Homes Canada Day in Kanata needs you!
We are looking for energetic volunteers to help make our event another success. It's a great way to build your volunteer experience, get involved in your community, meet new people, and show your Canadian pride. It's also a great opportunity for high school students to secure some or all of their required volunteer hours. Over 100 volunteers are needed for various positions.
VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION on Wednesday, June 24 at 7pm

VOLUNTEER ROLES
Crew Captains

Reporting to the Volunteer Coordinator you will be responsible for overseeing a small group of volunteers by:

  • Contacting volunteers with their assigned duties and schedules

  • Being the “go to person” for your assigned group

  • Assist with volunteer orientation

Crew captains must have previous volunteer experience and be over the age of 18.  Previous supervisory experience is an asset.


Set up / Tear down

Volunteers are required for Tuesday June 30th and  to assist with set up and tear down.  This is a physical role.


Grounds Crew

Responsible for all things related to grounds maintenance such as:

  • Placement, labeling and monitoring of garbage/recycle cans

  • Ensuring porta potties are kept stocked with toilet paper

  • Picking up of garbage on grounds throughout the event

  • Post event cleanup

  • Assisting with the set up and removal of onsite signage

Ground crew volunteers must be capable of bending and carrying.

Fun Zone Crew

Volunteers in this zone will:

  • Assist with face painting

  • Monitor line-ups

  • Keep the zone free of litter, etc

  • Provide “quick response” link to emergency services/lost & found

  • Fun Zone volunteers are required to complete a Police Check

Volunteer Security

Volunteer Security is the eyes and ears of the event. They work with local police and festival organizers to ensure a safe environment for all attendees.

 

This area requires individuals who can stay alert and be prepared to take action if necessary.

  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time

  • Security volunteers must be 19 years of age

  • Previous security experience is a definite asset

  • A Police Check will be required.

Volunteer Tent

 

Reporting to the Volunteer Coordinator, these volunteers will assist with the signing in/out of event volunteers, disbursement of water, and covering off other volunteers where needed.

·         Must be flexible and adaptable

·         Must be people oriented and friendly

Important note:  Volunteers under the age of 18 will require parent or guardian permission.
